Activities & Schedule
During a typical season we have a dinner/dance once a month – from October through April – at the Hilton Naples with music by Manhattan Connection, dancing, good food, laughter, and fellowship.
Our schedule for our 2022 season is being determined, so check back in a couple weeks. Here are some past social activites.
Summer time finds us visiting local Naples country clubs to enjoy dinner and dancing with their club members.
Every first Monday of the month some of our members get together at Skillets in Bed Bath and Beyond Shopping Center in Naples for brunch at 11:30 a.m. If you'd like to join us, please contact Estelle Rourke at 398-2105.
Interested widows and widowers in the Naples or Ft. Myers area are invited to attend a first event, paying the $45.00 for dinner and an evening of dancing. If you like us and want to join, dues are $45 for the year and pay for our music and mailings. Our year runs from October 1 through September 30.

As the story goes, widow Frederick William Burt III was walking on the Naples beach back in 2002, admiring the sunset, when he came upon three ladies there on the beach, and remarked on the beautiful sunset. They started chatting, and it turned out that the women also were widowed and traveled together all the time. An idea was born, Fred decided then and there that he would try to get widows and widowers together and form an association. That idea resulted in the beginning with 31 original members.
Fast forward to present day, and we have Widows and Widowers of Southwest Florida with a membership of 150, ages from late 60s to 90s! Anyone who has lost a life partner knows how difficult it is to start a new way of life – alone. This is a wonderful way to meet people, both women and men.
Finally, the Naples Daily News wrote a great article on how we help widows and widowers in the Naples area to start over again.
